Navigation in the topic tree
The topic tree represents a hierarchically structured database overview of the contents. To see the contents of the desired topic, simply click on the entry.
You can change the sort order of the images. Select an entry from the list and choose the desired sort direction - ascending or descending. Klick on "Sort" to apply the new sort order.
Return to the start page at any time by clicking "Home" in the main menu, the "Welcome" topic or the NOVA logo.
Input of search terms
Enter your search term in the input field. Search terms are not case sensitive but must consist of at least three characters. If you enter more than one search term, the terms are combined with an AND. If you want to explicitly exclude a term use a - (minus) as a prefix for this term. If your search obtains no results, "Fuzzy"-search will be used.
Example:
"Malus Idared" will find all images and topics containing the terms Malus and Idared.
"Malus -Idared" will find all media and topics containing the term Malus but not the term Idared.
Search
Starting the search will scan any information given in the entries of the topic tree and all media for your search term.
The results shown in the display area are classified by pictures and topics. After having a look at a certain picture, click on the link "back to search results" just below the main menu to return to all hits.

To save your personal settings (e.g.: size of thumbnails, number of search results per page) please use the entry "Preferences" in the main menu.
Lightboxes
Lightboxes serve for collecting images. Every user can create several lightboxes named differently. Lightboxes are saved permanently for registered users until the user deletes them. Lightboxes of guest users are deleted at the end of the session.
These image collections can be used as shopping list or can be sent to third parties.
Type the email address of the recipient.
In the next step fill in your email address. You can enter a message for the addressee in the field "Text/Comment". To complete simply click the "Send" button.

Which operating systems do I need?
M@RS 6 is a web-based application. The system works with Windows, Mac or Linux. The only thing you need is a common browser.
Which system requirements are necessary?
In order to use the system, we recommend to use one of the following browsers:
Internet Explorer (version 6 or better)
Netscape (version 7.2 or better)
Mozilla/Firefox (version 1.2.1 or better)
Opera (version 9 or better)
Safari (version 2.0 or better)
The system is optimized for the screen resolution 1024 x 768.
Please make sure that the following options are activated/enabled:
- Cookies
- JavaScript
- Stylesheets

Why should I register?
You can save your contact data and preferences and you are shown further non-public content. Differently to the guest user the content of the lightboxes is saved permanently.
I forgot my password! What is there to do?
If you forgot your password, press the button "Reset password" in the login-area. Follow the instructions and you will receive a new password by email shortly afterwards.
Is there a way to download media?
The order and download of images is only available to partners and customers with a corresponding license agreement.
As a registered user you can get more information about ordering in the "Order information" in the main menu.
